Gomis-Mta — Above the Clouds!

The best time here is evening and early morning. At sunset the clouds turn gold and pink, and in the morning you can watch the sunrise right above them. So if you can, come for the night rather than a couple of hours. Gomis-Mta has distinctive wooden cottages, alpine meadows, pine forests and plenty of walks. More experienced travellers can head to the volcanic Lake Chinchao at about 2,500 m — reached from the resort on foot or by 4×4.

How to drive from Batumi

The simplest route: Batumi → Kobuleti → Ozurgeti → Shemokmedi → Gomis-Mta. You drive towards Guria and Ozurgeti, and from Ozurgeti the climb to Gomis-Mta begins — about 33 km. Allow roughly 2–2.5 hours for the whole drive from Batumi.

How to drive from Tbilisi

Tbilisi → S1/E60 highway → Kutaisi → towards Guria → Ozurgeti → Gomis-Mta. That is about 350 km and roughly 4.5–5 hours of pure driving without long stops.
