What you need to rent a car in Georgia: documents, deposit, rules

Renting a car in Georgia is simpler than in most of Europe. Here is everything you need to know before your trip.

Documents

• Passport.
• Your national driving licence. If it includes Latin characters, an International Driving Permit is not needed.
• Nothing else: no credit card, no proof of address, no paperwork.

Deposit

The deposit is paid in cash at pickup and returned in full when you bring the car back in good condition. We do not block money on your card — no funds frozen for weeks.

Insurance

Basic insurance is included in every price. You can add full coverage with zero excess for a fixed daily fee — then scratches are simply not your problem.

Payment

Pay on pickup by card or cash — USD, GEL or EUR. No prepayment for the booking, so you risk nothing if plans change.

Restrictions

Driving into South Ossetia and Abkhazia is not allowed — insurance does not apply there. Everywhere else in Georgia: unlimited mileage, mountain regions included.

How to book

Pick a car and dates online and send a request — a manager confirms it, and the contract is signed electronically before pickup. At the airport you just inspect the car and take the keys.
