Parking in Batumi: by the sea and in the Old Town
Batumi is a resort, and parking here depends heavily on the season. In winter it's calm and free almost everywhere. In summer (June to September) the centre and seafront are packed, and a spot by the sea takes some hunting. Here's how it works.
Paid zones in the centre
In the central area and along the coast there is paid parking. You pay at meters or via an app, by the hour. The zones are marked with lines and signs. In summer these are the most sought-after spots, so free ones are scarce at any time of day.
Where to park for free
The easiest free option is the blocks a little further from the sea. Just a few streets inland from the seafront you'll find free spaces. Many people do exactly this: leave the car a 5-10 minute walk away and go to the sea on foot.
The seafront and the Boulevard
You don't park on Batumi Boulevard itself (the seaside park) — it's a pedestrian zone. Park on the adjacent streets or in organised lots by the entrances to the Boulevard. Near the popular spots (the Piazza, the Ferris wheel, the Alphabet Tower) it's tight in summer — come early.
The Old Town and the Piazza
Batumi's old quarters are compact, the streets are narrow, and in the evening they're full of people. There's almost nowhere to park right by the Piazza — better to leave the car in a paid lot nearby and walk.
Near the beach
If you're heading to the beach at the height of the season, come in the morning: by midday all the nearby spots are taken. Don't park on lawns, pavements or the sand by the beach — you'll be fined and may be towed.
Batumi Airport
The airport is right in the city, a few minutes from the centre. If you rent with us, we meet you right at the exit, so you don't have to think about airport parking at all.
Tips
- In summer, allow time to find a spot by the sea, or head straight for a paid lot.
- In winter and the shoulder season, parking in Batumi is no problem — almost everywhere is free.
- Keep an app or some change for the meters in the paid zones.
- Don't leave valuables in view in the car on a busy resort street.
With a car, Batumi pairs well with trips around Adjara — the Makhuntseti waterfalls, the Khulo cable car, the botanical garden. The main thing is to decide in advance where you'll leave the car by the sea.
