3. Colchis FountainThe large fountain in Kutaisi's central square is adorned with enlarged replicas of ancient archaeological finds associated with the culture of Colchis.
4. Motsameta MonasteryA small and very picturesque monastery is situated amidst wooded cliffs overlooking a river gorge. It is worth visiting not only for the history of the monastery itself but also for the beautiful views and peaceful atmosphere.
5. Gelati MonasteryOne of Georgia's most important medieval monastic complexes and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Gelati is associated with King David the Builder and is renowned for its ancient churches, mosaics, and frescoes; it can conveniently be visited alongside Motsameta in a single trip.
6. Sataplia Nature ReserveAn excellent option for a trip with children: here you can see real dinosaur footprints, walk through a Colchian forest, visit a karst cave, and step out onto a panoramic viewing platform. The tourist section of the cave is small, making Sataplia well-suited for a half-day excursion.
7. TskaltuboA famous balneological resort located about a half-hour drive from Kutaisi. The town is notable for its vast green park, mineral springs, and monumental Soviet-era sanatoriums—some buildings look as though time stood still there decades ago.
8. Prometheus CaveOne of Georgia's most impressive caves is located near Tskaltubo. The tourist route winds for approximately 1.4 km amidst massive stalactites, stalagmites, and stone "waterfalls," and—conditions permitting—part of the journey can be made by boat along an underground river.
9. Tetra — White CaveA lesser-known alternative to the famous caves around Tskaltubo. It is a great spot for those who have already visited Prometheus and Sataplia and want to add another natural attraction in Imereti to their itinerary—one that isn't crowded with tourists.
10. Martvili CanyonOne of Georgia's most famous canyons, featuring turquoise water, towering limestone walls, and small waterfalls. A walking trail runs through the area, and when water levels permit, you can take a boat ride along the most picturesque section of the gorge.
11. Okatse CanyonThe main feature of Okatse is a long suspended walkway running along the sheer canyon wall, high above the gorge. At the end of the route, there is an observation deck offering panoramic views of the forest-covered mountains of Imereti. This destination is best suited for those who are comfortable with heights and willing to do some walking.
12. VaniA small town southwest of Kutaisi, Vani is of particular interest to history and archaeology enthusiasts. Important monuments of ancient Colchis have been discovered in the area, making it an excellent addition to a trip exploring sites linked to the history of Western Georgia.
13. Katskhi PillarOne of Imereti’s most unusual landmarks is a towering limestone cliff topped by a small monastery complex. Even without climbing to the summit, the sight of this solitary stone pillar rising from the green valley makes a powerful impression.
14. SairmeA mountain resort set amidst forests south of Kutaisi, known for its mineral springs and cool climate. It is a great place to visit for a walk, to enjoy nature, and to escape the summer heat—especially if you want to spend the day in the mountains rather than the city.
