The Most Beautiful Place in Svaneti Is, of Course, Mazeri!

The main natural sight is Shdugra (Ushba) waterfall, reached by a beautiful trail through the forest and the Dolra river valley. Part of the way can be done on horseback — horse rides are very popular here and suit even visitors without much experience.

Another beautiful spot is the high mountain Lake Meziri. Horse routes to it start from the Mazeri area and cross alpine meadows with panoramic views of Ushba; if you wish, you can continue to the Baki pass.

What to see and do

Ushba, Shdugra waterfall, Lake Meziri, the Becho valley, Svan towers, hiking and horse riding in the mountains. Give Mazeri a whole day, and if you want to feel the real atmosphere of Svaneti, stay the night.

Roughly June to September; in spring and autumn pay special attention to road conditions and the weather.
