Batumi Botanical Garden

14.08.2026
Batumi Botanical Garden sits on the slopes of Green Cape, about 9 km from central Batumi. It is not an ordinary park but a huge area above the Black Sea: tropical and subtropical plants, bamboo, palms, camellias, citrus trees and plants from East Asia, Australia, New Zealand and the Americas.

Allow 2–3 hours for a proper walk; if you like stopping at viewpoints and taking photos, you can easily spend half a day. The terrain is hilly, so comfortable shoes are a must. If you do not want to walk the climbs, there are electric cars inside.

Green Cape beach

After the garden, head down to Mtsvane Kontskhi beach. It is one of the most scenic beaches around Batumi: a pebble shore, the green slopes of the Botanical Garden almost above the sea and usually a calmer atmosphere than on Batumi's central beach.

That combination is what makes the spot special: first a few hours among subtropical greenery with views from above, then down to the sea for a swim.

How to get there from Batumi

By car it is one of the easiest trips for a visitor. Green Cape is about 9 km from central Batumi; the drive takes roughly 15–25 minutes depending on traffic. Head north from Batumi towards Mtsvane Kontskhi/Chakvi.

Without a car you can take public transport. Travel sources mention buses 10/10A and minibuses 31/40, but routes and timetables change, so check them before you go.

When to go

Adjara's official tourism portal recommends spring, summer and autumn.

In summer, arrive in the morning, around 9:00–10:00: walk the garden before it gets too hot, then go down to Green Cape around 12:00–13:00 and stay by the sea.

May–June: lush greenery and comfortable walking before the peak summer heat. July–August: best if you want to combine the garden with a proper beach day — plan the walk for the morning. September–October is especially good for the garden itself: comfortable for long walks, and the garden takes on autumn colours.
